The meeting marked an initial step in exploring a strategic partnership between USU and PT APN in the fields of research, education, and the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

USU Welcomes an Audience from the Confucius Institute and Xihua University, Exploring Academic Collaboration with the Faculty of Cultural Sciences
Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), through the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships (DIKG), welcomed an official audience from the Confucius Institute (CI) of Xihua University, China, to explore potential academic collaboration, particularly in the fields of language and culture. The meeting was held on Tuesday (3 February 2026) in the Equity Meeting Room, 3rd Floor of the USU Rectorate Building, and marked an initial step in strengthening collaboration between USU and its international partners through the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) USU.

USU Strengthens Its Global Reputation Enhancement Strategy through the QS WUR and THE Ranking Workshop

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) welcomed a delegation from PT Gramedia Asri Media for an audience meeting and exploration of further collaboration on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the Equity Meeting Room, 3rd Floor of the USU Rectorate Building. The meeting was opened by the Manager of Global Partnerships at USU, Prof. Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si., who expressed appreciation for Gramedia’s visit as a strategic step to expand the implementation of the cooperation agreement previously signed through the Directorate of Student Achievement and Alumni Relations (Ditmawa) of USU.

The Vice Rector III for Research, Community Engagement, and Cooperation of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Prof. Dr. Apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., received a delegation from McMaster University, Canada, on Monday (December 1, 2025), at the Equity Meeting Room, 3rd Floor of the USU Rectorate Building. The meeting focused on the implementation of academic collaboration following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between USU and McMaster University.

USU and the Consulate General of India Hold Visiting Lecture on Women’s Leadership and Resilience
Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in Medan, organized a Visiting Lecture Series titled “Women Leadership and Resilience” on Thursday, 20 November 2025, at the Video Conference Room, 4th Floor, Digital Learning Center Building, USU. This academic initiative is a joint program between the Master of Public Administration Department, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) USU, and the Government of India through the Indian Consulate General in Medan.

USU and KOICA Strengthen Blue Carbon Research through Planning Workshop and SBC Project Launch
Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) hosted the two-day Planning Workshop and Launching Ceremony – Sustainable Silvofishery and Blue Carbon (SBC) Project on 5–6 November 2025. This initiative represents an international collaboration between the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Seoul National University (SNU), and four Indonesian universities: Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), Universitas Andalas (UNAND), Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), and USU as the host institution.

USU and Coventry University Formalize Academic Collaboration through MoU Signing
Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has officially established international cooperation with Coventry University, United Kingdom, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held on Monday, 3 November 2025, at the Rector’s Audience Room, 3rd Floor of the USU Rectorate Building. The MoU signing was attended by the Rector of USU, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., alongside the university leadership, and the delegation from Coventry University led by the Vice-Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Richard Dashwood, accompanied by Prof. Benny Tjahjono.
